Problems with newest Tapo P100 / Tapo P110 firmware

As a result of changes introduced by TP-LINK, Suitest is currently unable to authenticate with some Tapo P100 and Tapo P110 smart plugs running the latest firmware. As a result, these devices cannot be added to Suitest. Community reports indicate that recent firmware versions changed or restricted the local authentication API used by third-party integrations.

If your Tapo P100 or P110 is currently working with Suitest, we recommend disabling automatic firmware updates to avoid it being updated to an incompatible firmware version:

  1. Open the Tapo app.
  2. Select your P100 or P110 smart plug.
  3. Tap the Settings (⚙️) icon.
  4. Open Firmware Update.
  5. Turn Auto Update off.

Your smart plug will continue to function normally, but firmware updates will no longer be installed automatically. You can still install updates manually at any time from the Firmware Update screen.

Unfortunately, there is currently no workaround for devices that have already been updated to an affected firmware version.

We are monitoring the situation and will restore compatibility if TP-Link provides a compatible authentication method or if another supported solution becomes available.

Problems with newest TP-LINK firmware

With a non-opt-in update v4.1 to TP-LINK HS100 and HS110 smart plugs, these devices cannot be controlled by Suitest anymore.

Please make sure about the following:

  1. Check that the Power LED on your smart plug is green. Otherwise, your smart plug is switched off.

  2. Check that the Wi-Fi LED on the smart plug is not red - it means that there is no internet connection.

  3. Check that your smart plug is connected to the same network as is your control unit (SuitestDrive / CandyBox / Raspberry Pi).
