Visual testing evaluation improvements

When using Visual testing features, Suitest evaluates the state based on screenshots. Below you can find a few improvements that can be used in order to increase the accuracy of those features.

For the listed platforms, you will need to perform manual action before being able to use our improvements. You will need to create a simple app package with the following parameters and sideload it to your device:

VIDAA / Xfinity / Xumo TV / XClass TV app:

  • App ID = debug-calibration
  • URL = https://file.suite.st/calibration/index.html

Sky / Xumo (Entertainment OS) app:

  • App ID = debug-calibration
  • URL = https://file.suite.st/calibration/index.html

Crop & Straighten

Applicable only when using Suitest Camera app or USB camera / UVC device for Visual testing features. When Suitest takes a screenshot, with these improvements applied, Suitest will crop and straighten the screenshot in order to remove unnecessary parts and to make the screen better readable.

Configuring the Crop & Straighten

  1. Open Details of the testing device
  2. Go to Settings tab
  3. Next to the Image capture selection, open the context menu (3 dots) and click on Crop & Straighten item
  4. Confirm that your image capture device is configured correctly
  5. Wait for the process to end

Checking the Crop & Straighten impact

After you configured the Crop & Straighten feature, you can check that it works as expected:

  1. In the same context menu as you used to configure it, click on Preview item
  2. Check that a screenshot does not contain frame or screen surroundings and is properly straighten (rectangle shape)

Resetting the Crop & Straighten

When you replace the image capture device for you testing device with Crop & Straighten already configured, you can re-configure with the new device. Just click on Reset item inside the Image capture context menu on Details of your testing device and follow the process.
